Gold Coast Theatre Conservatory
Sample Curricula

Gold Coast Theatre Conservatory currently offers class on Sunday mornings from 9am to 2pm. During each term we teach a wide variety of topics, from acting to history, that we believe gives each student a well-rounded and comprehensive education in theatre. Each session culminates in a performance.

Below is a sample curriculum for what the coming term may look like.  The timing of various topics may change throughout the term depending on student readiness and other factors.

We believe that while we are building a well-rounded theatre education, more importantly we are teaching them public speaking skills, confidence, how to make friends, etc. - all of which helps with life goals and pursuits far beyond just theatre. â€‹â€‹

ACTING IN A PRODUCTION

SUNDAYS 10 AM TO 2:00 PM

ACTING IN A PRODUCTION plays are written for the class with the intention to have all parts semi-equal, all students on stage almost all the time, and as a true ensemble piece. This allows kids who may not be experienced enough to audition, get stage experience. We also only have classes once a weekend, unlike other plays in the area which rehearse afterschool AND on weekends.  This allows our students who have other extra-curriculars to participate and dip their feet into theatre without having to drop commitments elsewhere.

Open to returning students, students who have taken "Beginning/Intermediate Acting & Improv" or new students by invitation only. All students will be cast in an original one-act comedic production. Students will gain confidence, make friends, and learn the basics of real theatre training - not just "performing"! Classes will include vocal warm ups, improv games, master classes, guest teachers, and rehearsals for the final production. Students are expected to attend all classes and must be available for tech week and all performances. Tech week is the last week of the session with rehearsals each weeknight from 5 - 8 pm, and performances on Saturday at 1pm & 6pm, and Sunday at 1pm.  All students receive a free T-shirt during the final week. Stage crew internships are available.

Students are expected to attend ALL classes for the entire time. We write the play around all our students, and all students and roles are important. Your team counts on you to be there!

BEGINNING/INTERMEDIATE ACTING & IMPROV

SUNDAYS 9 PM TO 10 PM

For those who take acting seriously because it's the heart of the human condition. Our students go on to Broadway and Hollywood, or become successful as Doctors, Lawyers, and Business Owners because they see the world through the eyes of an artist. Confidence, creativity, and friend-making are increased through warmups, theatre games, terminology, audition technique, diction, scenes, and monologues. Students are encouraged to repeat the class as we build on your experience and challenge your work. Small showcase on the last day of class for parents! Must take this class as a prerequisite for "Advanced Acting in a Production".
